Tish and Snooky opened the first Manic Panic® boutique on St. Mark's Place in 1977, and one of the first products they sold were bright rainbow-colored dyes.
Demand for our goods increased dramatically in the 1990s, allowing us to greatly broaden their reach. Since then, our Manic Panic® formula has been fine-tuned by the High Priestesses of Hair ™ in response to customer feedback and by setting new industry standards.
Manic Panic® introduced their Amplified semi-permanent hair dye formula in 2005 for Dye HardsTM in search of a formula with even greater durability. Since Manic Panicdyes ®'s are still tested and quality controlled by in-house employees like Tish and Snooky, we can confidently say that they are the best available. We at Manic Panic® stand behind the quality of our products and promise that neither we nor any of our suppliers will ever use any ingredients that have been tested on animals. Our slogan is "Tested on Stars, Not Animals®."
Manic Panic isn't just a product; it's a culture that has inspired countless imitators but never managed to match its originality. We don't just sell it, we live it, as Tish and Snooky like to say.
CELEBRITY SIGHTINGS
As early as 2010, Jared Leto was using our "Red Passion" Classic Crème to dye his hair before appearing in Vogue's "Manic Panic" issue. Jared Leto's team came to us for help when he was cast as the Joker in the 2016 film Suicide Squad, and we also provided Margot Robbie's blue and pink pigtails for her role as Harley Quinn. Recently, Jake Gyllenhaal admitted to W that he wouldn't have become an actor if Manic Panic hadn't "gone to his head" when he was younger. Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner's appearances in our Cotton Candy and Hot Hot Pink Classic Crème formula have made them global overnight sensations.
